New paper: Bayesian inference in ring attractor networks
In our new paper, Bayesian inference in ring attractor networks, spearheaded by Anna Kutschireiter, we provide a Bayesian perspective on the heading-direction system in the fruit fly Drosophila. We show that standard ring attractor networks are already equipped to perform Bayesian inference, but only if they are tuned to feature slow dynamics. Check out the details in Anna’s Twitter thread and in this summary by the Harvard Brain Science Initiative.
